India: Cheap Travel Delhi in Paharganj

In New Delhi, Paharganj is a favorite of backpackers. The location is very strategic, not far from the area of Old Delhi (Old Town) and very close to the railway station and metro. Paharganj, the backpacker area like other countries, situated not far from the center of town. Tourism in Cambodia is not only limited to Angkor Wat, a magnificent Buddhist temple, but also a tourist attraction with a dark history that lies to the east of the country.

Cruelty group leader Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge in the 1970s left a deep wound for Cambodians today. But the legacy became a tourist attraction, especially for those who like history.

I started my journey with a visit to this museum, which is approximately a one hour drive from Phnom Penh International Airport. I arrived at their destination about three o'clock, so it still has about two hours to explore the place.

At first I thought Tuol Seng is just an ordinary museum, which is also found in many other countries, but apparently not. This place presents something very different.

Tuol Sleng was once a high school in 1975 converted into a prison called Security-21 or S-21. Reportedly there were about 17 to 20 thousands of innocent Cambodians and some foreigners who had been imprisoned here. And of all people arrested, only seven people who survived until the Khmer Rouge regime was overthrown.

Entering the complex Tuol Sleng, still not seeing anything different until I approached one of the buildings. On the walls seen a sign that prohibits visitors laughing and joking. I went inside. It's hard to express what I feel inside the building. The school has been converted into a torture camp.

Anak-anak sering memimpikan pekerjaan yang berbahaya ketika dewasa, seperti ahli kembang api atau pemburu buronan. Tapi kemudian ketika dewasa mereka memilih pekerjaan yang cenderung minim risiko bahkan membosankan.

John Weigel dan Liz Vella tetap memilih jalur berbahaya itu. Mereka bekerja di Australian Reptile Park -- sebuah suaka alam liar milik perseorangan yang berjarak sekitar satu jam dari Sydney.

Mengalami Empat Musim di Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road mungkin adalah jalan paling istimewa di negara bagian Victoria, Australia. Jajaran karang setinggi 45 m bernama Twelve Apostles berdiri di lepas pantai Taman Nasional Port Campbell dan sering menjadi titik perhentian terakhir dari perjalanan melintasi Great Ocean Road yang menghubungkan antara Torquay dan Warnambool sepanjang 243 km.

Bagi saya, hal yang paling menarik dari Great Ocean Road adalah bagaimana saya merasa seperti mengalami empat musim dalam satu kali perjalanan. Cuaca Victoria yang suka berubah-ubah seenaknya makin menambah kesan saya.

Bersama seorang teman, saya berangkat pagi-pagi menggunakan mobil. Dari pusat kota Melbourne, tempat saya tinggal saat itu, kami menuju ke arah Geelong di tenggara. Dari Geelong, kami menuju ke Torquay, sebuah kota kecil yang secara resmi menjadi awal dari Great Ocean Road. Selain mulus, jalan ini juga menawarkan pemandangan yang luar biasa indah.

Di Torquay, kami menikmati indahnya pantai biru, yang merupakan pemandangan jamak ketika melintasi jalan ini. Jalan pinggir pantai antara Torquay, Lorne hingga Apollo Bay menyajikan keindahan luar biasa. Apollo Bay merupakan sebuah kota kecil yang terletak di sebuah teluk. Tempat ini kini menjadi salah satu tujuan wisata, walau mungkin masih kalah dengan kota tetangganya, Lorne.

Di Apollo Bay, kami berhenti sejenak untuk melepas lelah dan menikmati santap siang. Saat itu adalah bulan Februari, masih musim panas di Australia. Matahari bersinar terik dan saya melihat banyak orang berselancar. Ada juga jajaran toko yang menjual peralatan selancar serta menyediakan kursus.

Perjalanan dilanjutkan, dan kali ini jalanan tidak melintasi pinggir pantai. Justru bagian ini yang membuat saya sangat terkesan. Teriknya matahari hilang digantikan oleh mendung yang menggelayut, saat itu kami tengah melewati hutan hujan dengan berbagai macam tumbuhannya. Langit tertutup rimbunnya dedaunan dari pohon-pohon besar di sisi kanan dan kiri jalan.

Bila Anda ingin lebih banyak mengeksplorasi alam di Australia, di Cape Otways, tidak jauh dari Apollo Bay Anda dapat bergabung untuk melakukan bushwalking — berjalan melintas hutan.

Kami berhenti sebentar untuk melihat sapi-sapi yang dibiarkan begitu saja di padang rumput yang luas. Pemandangan ini tentu sulit didapati di Indonesia yang sebagian besar hewan ternaknya dibiarkan di dalam kandang dan hanya digembalakan sesekali saja.

Setelah melalui Princetown, kami kembali menyusuri pantai hingga tiba di tujuan utama, yaitu Twelve Apostles di Taman Nasional Port Campbell.

Twelve Apostles

Karang tinggi yang terbuat dari batu kapur berjajar membentuk formasi yang luar biasa indah. Walaupun disebut Twelve Apostles – atau 12 rasul – sebenarnya jumlah karang yang masih berdiri saat ini hanya delapan. Twelve Apostles merupakan pemandangan alam di Australia yang paling sering difoto. Karang-karang ini terbentuk dari erosi hantaman ombak samudera. Awalnya karang besar tergerus sedikit-sedikit membentuk gua dan tebing yang lama-kelamaan terkikis hingga membentuk pilar-pilar kapur yang sangat tinggi hingga mencapai 45 m.

Akibat hantaman air laut yang keras, beberapa pilar runtuh. Namun akibat erosi yang kuat, ada kemungkinan tebing-tebing yang menghadap ke samudera akan membentuk pilar-pilar baru di masa datang.

Bagi saya, perjalanan kereta api tak ada duanya — ia menyuguhkan dunia lain di luar rumah kita dengan irama teratur, menguak satu per satu “adegan” perjalanan, serta membangun emosi dengan bumbu konflik dan klimaks. Semua itu dikemas tanpa saya harus beranjak dari tempat duduk atau cemas dengan kemacetan atau cuaca yang buruk.

Jadi rasanya kurang lengkap bila saya mengunjungi suatu negara tanpa mencoba sistem kereta api di sana.

Terlebih ketika saya mengunjungi Malaysia, yang jalur kereta apinya punya peran sangat penting. Dibangun pertama kali oleh Inggris, moda transportasi ini belum mati digilas pembangunan jalan raya lintas negara bagian. Ia merupakan salah satu sarana paling nyaman untuk bepergian dari Kuala Lumpur ke Singapura, atau ke Butterworth (Penang) hingga ke Bangkok, Thailand nun jauh di sana.

Tapi ada satu jalur yang mungkin tak pernah terpikirkan, atau bahkan terlupakan, terutama oleh pengelana dari mancanegara. Yakni, jalur pesisir timur semenanjung Malaysia.

Di jalur itu ada banyak tujuan potensial seperti Cherating, Kota Bharu, Kuantan dan pulau-pulau lepas pantai seperti Pulau Redang, Pulau Perhentian dan Pulau Tioman. Dalam perjalanan ke sana, kita juga bisa berhenti di Taman Negara dan melakukan banyak kegiatan wisata lingkungan seperti mendaki gunung, trekking, mengamati burung, memancing dan lain-lain.

Jalur kereta api pesisir timur berawal di Gemas (di Negeri Sembilan) dan berakhir di Tumpat (Kelantan). Negara bagian Kelantan terletak di ujung utara semenanjung Malaysia dan berbatasan dengan Thailand. Jalur kereta api ini dijuluki “The Jungle Railway” karena jalurnya melewati daerah hutan hujan tropis yang padat, terutama mulai dari Gua Musang, kota kecil di selatan Kelantan sampai ke Tumpat.

Ada dua gaya berkelana dengan The Jungle Railway. Yang pertama, Anda bisa menaiki rangkaian gerbong ekspres yang nyaman dan tanpa henti, langsung dari Kuala Lumpur, Gemas atau Singapura. Sayangnya, menurut situs Seat61, hanya ada satu jadwal yang melewati rute Gua Musang - Tumpat pada hari terang, yaitu rangkaian no. 14 atau 15 (Ekspress Sinaran Timur).

Yang kedua, Anda bisa menaiki rangkaian gerbong reguler yang hanya punya kelas setara tingkat kelas bisnis di Indonesia. Masih dimotori lokomotif klasik, rangkaian ini berhenti di hampir setiap stasiun. Jika naik kereta api dari Tumpat atau Wakaf Bharu (Kota Bharu), kemungkinan besar Anda akan berjumpa dengan penduduk yang membawa hasil bumi untuk dijual di stasiun Gua Musang. Menarik, bukan?

Rangkaian ekspres akan transit di Gemas sebelum melanjutkan ke Kuala Lumpur atau Singapura. Rangkaian reguler harus harus berganti kereta di Gemas. Meski rangkaian reguler makan waktu lebih banyak untuk sampai di Tumpat, namun ia menawarkan pengalaman yang jauh lebih berwarna.

Perjalanan ini dapat dibagi menjadi beberapa bagian, dengan asumsi kita berangkat dari Kuala Lumpur menuju Tumpat:

Kuala Lumpur - Gemas
Semua kereta api, baik rangkaian ekspres maupun reguler harus melalui Gemas, sebuah terminal dengan fasilitas cukup baik. Terdapat penginapan dan tempat makan 24 jam di sini.

Gemas - Jerantut/Mela
Jika Anda mengambil rangkaian reguler, maka Anda bisa berhenti di stasiun Jerantut atau Mela jika ingin melanjutkan ke Taman Negara. Antara Gemas dan Jerantut atau Mela, pemandangan didominasi oleh kebun kelapa sawit dan karet. Anda juga bisa melanjutkan ke Kuantan dengan berhenti di Mentakab.

Jerantut - Gua Musang
Gua Musang adalah kota dekat perbatasan negeri bagian Kelantan dan Pahang. Di sini adalah perhentian besar selanjutnya. Pemandangan antara kota-kota ini barangkali adalah yang paling menarik karena rute ini membelah hutan.

Gua Musang - Tumpat
Anda akan menuruni bukit dari Gua Musang ke Tumpat, yang konturnya lebih rata. Bagian perjalanan ini juga tak kalah menarik karena Anda bisa melihat lanskap yang didominasi batu gamping, bahkan stasiun Gua Musang berada tebing batu gamping. Sempatkan mampir di Kota Bharu (stasiunnya bernama Wakaf Bharu), kota yang banyak museum, kuil dan pantainya.

Setelah Tumpat, jika ingin melanjutkan perjalanan dengan kereta api, Anda bisa pergi ke Rantau Panjang untuk menyeberang ke Sungai Kolok, sebuah kota perbatasan di Thailand yang tersambung dengan jaringan kereta api Thailand menuju Bangkok. Asyik!

Anda berencana datang ke Thailand? Lihatlah lebih jauh dari sekadar senyuman selamat datang dan ingat-ingatlah tips dari orang lokal ini.

Sekilas, penduduk Thailand tampak santai dan ramah. Apalagi negara kami dikenal dengan julukan Land of Smiles.

Selain harus waspada terhadap cara-cara penduduk lokal, ada beberapa nasihat yang sudah biasa Anda dengar, seperti pastikan jajanan yang Anda beli dimasak dengan benar dan hindari gang-gang gelap pada malam hari.

Berikut adalah beberapa celah di Bangkok yang harus Anda waspadai.

1. Polisi rokok

Biasanya, polisi Bangkok akan sangat membantu jika Anda bertanya arah jalan atau saat habis kecopetan. Tetapi, Polisi Metropolitan Bangkok, yang bisa Anda kenali dari tanda hijau di bagian lengan, dilaporkan telah berubah jadi kurang ramah dalam beberapa bulan terakhir.

Menyasar para turis adalah cara mudah untuk mendapat beberapa dolar dari para pengunjung. Dan yang semakin menyusahkan lagi, sangat sedikit terdapat asbak di jalanan.

Harian The Bangkok Post pun sempat meluncurkan liputan investigasi tentang kelakuan para polisi rokok ini.

2. Pengemis yang dikendalikan jaringan mafia

Kebanyakan pengemis di Bangkok dikendalikan jaringan mafia, atau oleh para orangtua yang mempergunakan anak-anak mereka sebagai alat untuk menarik simpati dan uang. Meski para pengemis ini tampak menyedihkan, berusahalah untuk tidak memberi uang, karena ini akan membuat siklus jahat terus berlanjut.

3. Pengendara tuk-tuk yang mengambil keuntungan

Tuk-tuk beroda tiga adalah alat transportasi paling khas Bangkok.

Kebanyakan tuk-tuk ini aman, tapi Anda harus menghindari pengendara yang menawarkan harga sangat murah. "Empat puluh baht, seharian, saya antar Anda ke mana saja!"

Jika Anda bilang iya, maka Anda akan dibawa ke beberapa kuil, lalu ke sebuah restoran tempat Anda bisa makan siang. Si supir akan mendapat komisi karena telah membawa Anda. Tidak masalah, sih.

Sampai kemudian Anda akan dibawa ke “toko batu permata”, bahkan ketika Anda berkeras tidak tertarik untuk belanja. Para pengemudi tuk-tuk ini akan mendapat kupon untuk bensin atau komisi dari tempat-tempat seperti ini sementara Anda menghabiskan waktu melihat-lihat barang-barang tak berharga. Anda masih beruntung jika hanya rugi waktu.

Agar Anda menikmati naik tuk-tuk tanpa harus khawatir akan tipuan semacam ini, dekati atau berhentikan tuk-tuk daripada Anda menerima tawaran dari pengemudi yang mendekati Anda.

Setelah Anda memberi tahu tujuan Anda, tetapkan harga yang Anda sepakati sebelum menaiki tuk-tuk.

4. Harga dua lapis

Tujuh Kota Impian Baru

Sejak Indonesia mengalami era pembangunan, Jakarta seolah menjadi pusat segalanya. Baik itu kegiatan ekonomi, pengambilan keputusan-keputusan politis, maupun pusat kehidupan. Selama berpuluh-puluh tahun, berbagai media di Indonesia juga menyoroti permasalahan Jakarta (kemacetan, banjir, kepadatan penduduk) seolah semuanya adalah persoalan nasional.

Sementara itu, ada berbagai pusat ekonomi baru dan kota-kota yang tumbuh, menyejahterakan penduduknya, tapi tidak tersorot oleh media nasional. Cerita-cerita tentang kehidupan mereka yang tinggal di luar Jakarta luput dari perhatian. Padahal, menurut kami, cerita-cerita ini penting untuk menunjukkan bahwa peluang meraih pendapatan ada di berbagai kota di Indonesia (meski pemerataan kesempatan masih jadi isu besar di negeri ini).

Melalui artikel "Mencari Pesaing Berarti buat Jakarta", kami mencari cerita-cerita tentang kota-kota lain yang menggiurkan buat pencari kerja, tapi belum mendapat porsi besar pemberitaan. Dan kami menerima banyak masukan serta cerita. Berikut daftar kota yang masuk dalam usulan menjadi pesaing Jakarta.

1. Solo

Banyak surat elektronik yang kami terima berasal dari warga Solo yang bangga dengan kota mereka. Seperti dari Rizky Ayu yang menyebut bahwa keberadaan pasar tradisional yang nyaman dan bersih, angkutan umum dengan standar profesional terukur, serta terjaganya kampung-kampung budaya dan festival tahunan sebagai faktor kebanggaan Solo.

Potensi wisata mendukung terciptanya lapangan pekerjaan. "Mau kerja kantoran? Bisa. Banyak perusahaan yang membutuhkan tenaga Anda di sini. Mau wiraswasta? Apalagi! Ada banyak peluang bisnis di sini bila Anda jeli. Anda tidak perlu takut digusur Satpol PP yang bersenjatakan pentungan bila berdagang kali lima di sini. Ada sejumlah shelter di tempat-tempat strategis yang siap untuk Anda pakai berjualan," kata Rizky dalam emailnya kepada kami.

Murahnya harga kebutuhan hidup pokok serta jalanan yang tidak macet juga menjadi faktor plus lainnya. Kualitas sekolah dan universitasnya pun cukup tinggi.

2. Surabaya

Adji Setiawan dulunya tinggal di Jakarta. Lalu pada 2006 ia memutuskan untuk hijrah ke Surabaya dan memulai usaha desain interior dari nol. Yang membuatnya terkaget-kaget adalah, "(Memulai) usaha di Surabaya jauh lebih mudah dengan kecepatan jauh lebih cepat daripada memulai usaha di Jakarta." Kini ia tak mengaku tak mau lagi tinggal di Jakarta. "Sekarang tergantung pihak pemerintah dan media, untuk tidak selalu menyorot Jakarta dengan 'kemegahan' palsunya," tambah Adji.

3. Palembang

Buat Sonny Chandra Thawab, Palembang terus membangun tapi tidak terobsesi dengan modernitas, bersahaja dan religius. Buat seseorang yang baru menetap di Palembang sejak 9 tahun lalu, Palembang adalah kota yang memberi kesempatan buat pendatang. Kebanggaan terhadap makanan tradisional dan pakaian tradisional juga tetap terjaga.

4. Semarang

Bagi anto_bgd_jayuzz, penataan Kota Semarang memberikan ruang publik yang nyaman bagi warga untuk nongkrong. Kawasan bersejarah pun dipugar kembali untuk menjadi salah satu pilihan wisata. Angkutan kota Trans Semarang yang tertib pun memberikan alternatif nyaman transportasi publik.

5. Yogyakarta

Menurut Andre Veriangga, Staf Kependudukan Pemerintah Daerah Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, Yogya adalah kota ideal pilihannya. "Banyak yang bisa kita dapatkan di kota ini, mulai dari fasilitas pendidikan murah dan beragam, transportasi yang memadai ke seluruh penjuru wilayah, birokrasi pemerintahan tidak berbelit-belit, makanan beragam dan murah meriah, kebudayaan masih asli, ramah tamah penduduk asli yg mampu berdampingan dengan etnis lain maupun pendatang, dan kemudahan pihak-pihak dalam negeri atau asing untuk berinvestasi," tulisnya dalam email.

Selain itu, tidak ada macet juga menjadi salah satu faktor kenyamanan hidup di Yogya. "Tidak akan terlihat wajah-wajah tegang di pagi hari terburu-buru masuk kantor, semrawut kendaraan yg menyebabkan kemacetan panjang hingga berjam-jam, keteraturan pola kehidupan saat pagi-siang-sore-dan malam, kemudahan menjangkau wilayah-wilayah tertentu sesuai keinginan, bahkan akses jalan di kota kami sangat mudah." Terdengar sangat menggiurkan bukan?

6. Balikpapan

Kekayaan alam Kalimantan juga memunculkan pusat-pusat ekonomi. Juliet menyebut Balikpapan sebagai pintu gerbang utama Kalimantan Timur. "Setiap tahun, orang-orang dari berbagai daerah (Jawa, Sulawesi, Sumatra, dsb) berbondong-bondong mencari nafkah dan mencoba peruntungan hidupnya di kota Balikpapan. Apalagi dengan banyaknya perusahaan investor asing yg berdiri dan berkantor di Balikpapan," kata Juliet.

Deky Rohie juga menyebut Balikpapan sebagai kota idaman. "Banyak perusahaan-perusahaan asing yang memberikan gaji besar, minyak berlimpah, sumber mineral dan batubaranya banyak," dia memberi alasan.

Buat Amiruddin M, Balikpapan juga menjadi salah satu kota yang ia rekomendasikan, meski ia menyebut kota-kota lain di Kalimantan Timur (Kutai Kartanegara, Bontang, Nunukan dan tempat tinggalnya, Samarinda). "Berbicara tentang Jakarta bagi saya bukanlah tempat yang menarik," kata dia. Ia pernah berkuliah di Jakarta, tapi untuk tinggal, "ratusan kali berpikir (ulang)."

"Kalau anda mau mencari uang datanglah kemari. Kota kami menawarkan kepada Anda ribuan lowongan kerja hampir setiap bulan dengan spesifikasi lapangan kerja yang bervariasi, mulai dari sektor pertambangan, perkebunan dan industri. Semua menjanjikan rupiah yang tidak sedikit," ia mengiming-imingi.

7. Batam

Penerapan zona ekonomi membuka peluang pekerjaan di kota ini. Cerita dari Nurul Fajar Sulistyowati, Putri Ajah dan Wenchy Gibs Zulu memberikan gambaran yang kurang lebih sama. Awalnya mereka ragu dengan peluang yang diberikan Batam, sampai tidak tahu Batam ada di mana. Tapi kemudian pemasukan yang mereka dapat berhasil menaikkan kelas sosial.

Bahkan, menurut Nurul Fajar, "Di sini aku bisa mendapatkan penghasilan dan menguliahkan adikku, membeli rumah, serta (membeli) kendaraan pribadi." Dan ini dengan level pendidikannya yang D1, sementara suami Nurul berpendidikan D3.

Menurut Nurul, ia berusaha mengajak dan membantu teman-temannya untuk mendapat pekerjaan di Batam, tapi mereka enggan karena citra Batam di masa lalu. Padahal, "Ada juga Bintan, Pekanbaru, Natuna, Tanjung Balai Karimun dan pulau lain di sekitarnya yang menyajikan berlimpah kesempatan untuk para pencari kerja." Anda tertarik?

Kota-kota yang disebut di atas bisa berkembang karena kekayaan alam atau keputusan-keputusan politik dari para pemimpin daerah. Meski begitu, Widi Anto yang tinggal di Sukoharjo lebih memilih mengandalkan kemajuan teknologi, terutama internet, untuk berusaha. Ia tak terpaku pada pembangunan kota yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah.

"Walaupun kurang didukung infrastruktur yang baik tapi paling tidak di zaman digital seperti ini, masyarakat bisa lebih mandiri untuk membangun ekonomi daerahnya. Misalnya dengan memaksimalkan jalur online untuk mengangkat produk-produk lokal ke pasaran yang lebih luas, bahkan kalau bisa pangsa pasar luar negeri." Dengan menawarkan batik, furnitur atau kerajinan tangan via internet, menurut Widi, kesuksesan tak perlu bergantung pada lokasi tinggal Anda.

Festival Krakatau adalah festival tahunan yang diselenggarakan di Lampung yang diadakan untuk merayakan pulau vulkanik bernama sama, yaitu Krakatau. Gunung Krakatau meletus pada 1927, letusan itu kemudian menghasilkan pulau-pulau kecil baru, yang diberi nama Anak Krakatau.

Letusan Gunung Krakatau menimbulkan awan panas setinggi 70 kilometer dan tsunami setinggi 40 meter. Letusan gunung yang terletak di Selat Sunda, tetapi secara administratif masuk wilayah Lampung tersebut menewaskan sekitar 36.000 orang.

Selama festival, pengunjung dapat menikmati berbagai macam pertunjukan seperti Karnaval Tuping (Karnaval Topeng Lampung), atraksi gajah, serta berbagai macam tarian dari Lampung dan kota sekitarnya. Akhir dari rangkaian acara ini adalah kunjungan ke pulau vulkanik itu, masih aktif tetapi sedang tidur lelap untuk sementara.

Festival Krakatau digelar untuk memperingati dahsyatnya letusan gunung krakatau, selain itu untuk pengenalan tempat pariwisata di Lampung yang bertujuan menarik wisatawan. Festival ini menyenangkan jika dapat ikut menuju ke anak gunung krakatau langsung, karena pemandangannya yang indah.

Tour Krakatau berangkat dari Pelabuhan Fery Bakauheni Lampung Selatan. Para peserta akan dibawa mengarungi Selat Sunda menuju Gugusan Kepulauan Krakatau dari arah Utara melewati Pulau Panjang dan Krakatau Tua. Pengalaman mendebarkan saat mendekati Gunung Anak Krakatau yang masih aktif.

KOTA Tomohon adalah kota yang warna-warni dengan berbagai jenis bunga. Setiap tahun, kota ini menggelar fesival bunga yang menarik perhatian ribuan wisatawan domestik maupun mancanegara. Tomohon benar-benar merupakan surga terutama bagi pecinta keindahan bunga.

Lokasi Festival

Tomohon terletak 30 kilometer sebelah barat daya Kota Manado, Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Festival Bunga Tomohon diselenggarakan pada bulan Juli setiap tahun.

Gambaran Umum

Festifal Bunga Tomohon membangkitkan seluruh gairah seluruh warga kota. Mereka mempersiapkan berbagai jenis bunga yang mereka tanam. Sepanjang pekan pelaksanaan festival, Tomohon menjadi sangat meriah, baik oleh wisatawan domestik dan mancanegara yang datang maupun oleh warna-warni bunga yang ada di setiap sudut kota.

Berbagai acara digelar seperti pameran dan bursa bunga, lomba tanaman hias, pergelaran seni budaya, pemilihan ratu bunga, demonstrasi dan lomba merangkai bunga, pameran dan diskusi fotografi, kontes desa indah, seminar nasional hortikultura, dan festival kuliner Minahasa. Puncak festival adalah Tournament of Flower.

Turnamen ini adalah parade bunga yang diikuti delegasi dari kota-kota di seluruh Indonesia. Para delegasi menghias kendaraan dengan berbagai macam bunga dan berpawai di sepanjang jalan-jalan Kota Tomohon. Dalam acara ini, puluhan ribu wisatawan akan berbaur bersama warga di tepi jalan yang dilalui oleh parade.

Tak kurang dari 14 juta tangkai bunga terangkai menjadi berbagai bentuk seperti candi, burung, dan berbagai macam bentuk yang unik. Bunga aster, mawar, anggrek, gladiol, krisan, anyelir, rosida, lili, aglonema, adenium, anthurium, dan bunga-bunga lain menghampar begitu banyaknya. Para wisatawan biasanya akan tergoda untuk berfoto.

Tomohon adalah kota di mana 70 persen penduduknya sangat setia menanam bunga. Karena itu, kemana Anda pergi pasti akan menjumpai bunga. Luas kota ini adalah 147 ribu meter persegi. Total luas lahan tanaman mencapai 90 hektare. Angka ini adalah gambaran bahwa Tomohon memang benar-benar kota bunga.

Kota ini terletak di kaki Gunung Lokon dengan hawa yang sejuk bertemparatur antara 21-24 derajat celcius. Karena kesejukannya itu Tomohon banyak didatangi wisatawan. Danau Sentani "Surga" Tersembunyi

SIAPA bilang Papua atau pulau yang terkenal dengan sebutan "Bumi cenderawasih" ini hanya berisi bukitbukit, hutan dan cuaca panas saja. Pulau ini juga punya wisata bahari yang tidak kalah dari wilayah-wilayah lain di Indonesia. Salah satunya adalah Danau Sentani. Di Sentani juga terdapat tugu Jendral Douglas Mc Arthur peninggalan Perang Dunia II. Di sebelah utara monument Mc Arthur, pada ketinggian 325 meter terdapat dataran pegunungan Cyclop dengan puncak Gunung Dofonsoro. Daerah ini sangat indah dan dahulu kala tempat ini merupakan pangkalan pertahanan Mc Arthur.

Danau Sentani di Papua terletak antara 20.33 hingga 2041 LS dan 1400.23 sampai 1400 38 BT. Berada 70 - 90 m diatas permukaan laut. Terletak juga diantara pegunungan Cyclops. Merupakan danau Vulkanik. Sumber airnya berasal dari 14 sungai besar dan kecil dengan satu muara sungai, Jaifuri Puay. Diwilayah barat, Doyo lama dan Boroway, kedalaman danau sangat curam. Sedangkan sebelah timur dan tengah, landai dan dangkal, Puay dan Simporo. Disini juga terdapat hutan rawa di daerah Simporo dan Yoka. Dalam beberapa catatan di-sebutkan, dasar perairannya berisikan substrat lumpur berpasir (humus).

Pada per-airan yang dangkal, ditumbuhi tanaman pandan dan sagu. Luasnya sekitar 9.360 Ha dengan kedalaman rata rata 24,3 meter. Disekitaran danau ini terdapat 24 kampung. Tersebar dipesisir dan pulau-pulau kecil yang ada ditengah danau.

Dengan adanya libur tahun baru ini, tarif tiket yang dikenakan juga naik. Teperti di candi prambanan misalnya, harga tiket masuk adalah Rp. 13.000 (normal) naik menjadi Rp. 23.000. Begitu juga dibeberapa tempat wisata yang lainnya.

Figure tower has long been public domain, but, in 2003 SNTE (Société nouvelle d'exploitation de la tour Eiffel) installed a new lighting in the tower. This effect is aimed at making the other night pictures of the tower and its lighting performance under copyright. As a result, no longer allowed to distribute photographs of the tower at night without permission in some countries.

The provision is controversial copyright. Director of Documentation for SNTE, Stéphane Dieu, commented in January 2005, "It is only intended to maintain the commercial use of images, so that is not used in ways that we do not approve of."
