New Zealand is called Aotearoa in Maori language (meaning Land of Long White Cloud), is an island nation in the southwest Pacific Ocean in southeastern Australia. The country consists of two large islands (North Island and South Island) and several other small islands. New Zealand is a parliamentary democracy and a British Commonwealth territory (Commonwealth Realm). New Zealand is responsible for the state government's self-Cook Islands and Niue and Tokelau and the Ross Dependency set.
New Zealand name is taken from the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. This name was given by an explorer Abel Tasman from the Netherlands.

Government

Government New Zealand is a constitutional monarchy with parliamentary democracy. Queen Elizabeth II is head of state who was given the title Queen of New Zealand are represented exclusively by the Governor-General. The appointment of a governor-general made on the specific advice of the prime minister.

Ratana Church, based in New Zealand has many followers among the Maori people. According to the census, other minority religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam. There are more than 36,000 Muslims in New Zealand, who are mostly new immigrants and refugees.
